WAKABA is dedicated to preserving Japanese traditions while sharing high-quality matcha and Japanese tea with the world. We use only organic tea leaves from Uji, Kyoto, and Kagoshima—two of Japan’s most renowned tea regions. Free from pesticides and chemical fertilizers, our teas deliver the pure, natural flavors of Japan.
Our tea leaves are matured in a controlled environment at 0°C and 50% humidity after harvest, enhancing their umami and rich flavor. This special process creates a smoother and more refined taste. Skilled tea masters in Uji carefully blend each batch to highlight the unique characteristics of the leaves, ensuring every cup offers the deep flavor and aroma of authentic Japanese tea.
WAKABA’s matcha and hojicha powders are perfect for a wide range of recipes, including lattes, smoothies, ice cream, and baked goods. They allow anyone to recreate professional-quality flavors at home, adding a touch of Japanese tradition to drinks and dishes.
Only tea leaves that pass over 100 rigorous quality tests annually are used in our products. Meeting strict quality standards, our teas are crafted with care to ensure they are safe, trustworthy, and of the highest quality.
In 2018, WAKABA opened its first matcha café in Düsseldorf, Germany. Today, we operate three locations, where local customers enjoy authentic matcha lattes, hojicha, and more. Our cafés are not just places to drink tea—they are spaces where people can experience the beauty and culture of Japanese tea.
The name "WAKABA," meaning "young leaves," symbolizes new beginnings and hope for the future. WAKABA honors the traditions and beauty of Japanese tea while reimagining its appeal to fit modern lifestyles.
